Thales Leites Agrees To Fight Alessio Sakara at UFC 101

After the UFC middleweight fighter Rousimar Palhares withdrew from the event due to his injury in his left leg, there was an eager wait to hear from UFC the name that would replace Palhares. And the wait is over, the recent middleweight title challenger Tales Leites has been roped in to replace the injured player and face Alessio Sakara at UFC 101 on 8 August in Philadelphia.

The bout has been confirmed by Leites earlier on Tuesday. The 185 pound bout between Palhares and Sakara was the scheduled game, but the broken leg of the former forced him to move out of the game. Palhares withdrew from the event on Saturday after he suffered while doing training. Leites told intheguard.tv that, “What is most important is getting back to fighting as soon as possible. I know that I didn’t fight well, that things didn’t go as I wanted against Anderson Silva, so nothing is better than starting again. I know that the expectations will be enormous, because now I need to show that I deserve another shot at the title. But this is good, it will give more motivation.”

Prior to his decision to fight the expert and tough fighter Silva in April, Leites had won five straight fights at UFC over Pete Sell, Ryan Jensen, Floyd Sword, Drew McFedries and Nate Marquardt. Another big loss in his career came in 2006 when he lost to Martin Kampmann. That was his UFC debut fight. Though he fought well, but he could not make a mark to win it.

People feel that Sakara is right now in no contest to Leites inside the Octagon. Sakara has been dropped from light heavyweight to middleweight following 3-3 start in his UFC career. But during fight he suffered the first round TKO lost to Chris Leben at UFC 82 last March. He debut in the new weight class has been pathetic. The UFC middleweight fighter Rousimar Palhares withdrew from the event due to his injury in his left leg. The fighter was planned to face Alessio Sakara at the recently announced UFC 101.

Though Leitis had a disappointing defeat in the last game against Silva for the Middleweight Title at UFC 97, but he is right now confident that he could able to give his best in the fight against Sakara. Sakara is tough striker and had been through lots of ups and downs in his career. His losses and wins have given him an extra edge of experience. Therefore he will try to give his best in the fight against Leites and would be waiting to erase his image as an average fighter. On the other hand Leites too would be in mood of vengeance to bring back his image that he lost to his disappointing fight to Dilva.

Therefore this fight would be an event to look at. Both the fighters would give their best and this could be a dramatic fight at UFC 101. All fans of Leitis and Sakara are eagerly waiting for the night of 8 August for the UFC 101.
