The top mixed martial artist and top seed player of UFC Anderson Silva is facing a new threat that too from Roy Jones. Silva last year put the word that he would like to test his boxing skills too and wished to try it out with none other than Jones. Jones too is trying to put a secure deal after he lost the fight to Joe Calzaghe. And the MMAVs Boxing would be a great fight to watch at. The fight is expected to generate interest among fight lovers.
Jones had pondered about quitting after he lost to Calzaghe in a fight in November, but instead he decided that he would be interested in a game against Anderson Silva. He is also interested in a re-match with Bernard Hopkins. But he is more interested in a fight against Silva. The 40 year old Jones had told his manager McGee Wright that he was really willing to have a meet with Silva. Silva, the Brazilian tactical fighter is known for his 101 ways to finish his foes inside the cage and following all UFC rules.
For this discussion, Wright reached out to the manager of Silva Ed Soares and informed him about Jones’ wish to face Silva. Soares was really elated at the idea about the match between the two fighters and he too remembered the word of Silva wishing to face Ray Jones. The match will draw lots of interest and money and he knew that Jones to have trained in MMA for two years so that he could give a tough fight to the 34 year old Brazilian Jiu-jitsu master.
Now everything lies in the court of White. Because Dana White confirmed that Silva won’t fight any game with Jones in any cage, ring, or on Mars as long as he was with UFC. That is really a firm decision from the boss of UFC and if he doesn’t wish then this fight would seem only as a dream and nothing else. White told, “We don’t put on freak shows. You don’t have to be educated in MMA to know that Silva vs. Jones would be very one sided.”
Wright was quite disappointed when he heard White totally writing off any possibility of the fight between the two fighters at the UFC. But he still hopes that Silva can convince White who is also a good friend of White. He feels that Silva would be able to change the mind of White and said, “I can’t blame Dana, he has done really well with his business.”
Right now we can only hope of a fight in which Jones would take Jeff Lacy in July. And on the other hand Silva is booked to fight Forest Griffin another prolific fighter at UFC in August. So, all the parties at this moment are busy with their prescheduled fights. But all would agree that if the fight between Jones and Silva takes place, it would be something different to watch at. Silva who is known to dismiss his opponents with high skilled fights would really have new contender in the form of boxing.
