Red Wings Win Game 1 of Stanley Cup

The Pittsburgh Penguins failed to take the revenge and they were outsmarted by the defending champions Detroit Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Final Game 1. The Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc Andre Fleury seemed to be nervous and he had really been weird to allow two goals that were bizarre and a goalie of his class cannot allow such goals. The Detroit Red Wings won the Game 1 beating the Penguins 3-1 on Saturday Night. Marc said after the game, “It felt like a full moon was over my end of the ice.”

The first goal of the Detroit was scored in just 13 minutes 38 seconds thus giving Detroit a lead in the game 1-0. It was really a gaffe of Marc and he could not believe his eyes. But Penguins hit back just minutes left in the second period and they tied the game 1-1. But there was embarrassing Fleury once more and the Detroits again supercharged. Brian Rafalski’s long shot sprang off the dashers to Johan Frazen who loss no opportunity to hit it to the net beating the already bewildered goalie. Now Detroit was 2-1. The Penguins tried hard to bring back the game but in vain. Fleury after the game said, “Yes, the boards here are quick — I’ll cogitate and see if I can do something about it.”

The third goal came from Justin Abdelkader and this scoring is an insurance goal in his first Stanley Cup Final Game and it was seemed like heaven on earth. He had given the lead to the team and he said, “It’s pretty crazy … first Stanley Cup Final game and I get a goal. Wow! My family and buddies I grew up with are never going to believe this.”

On the other hand Penguins coach Dan Bylsman said, “That’s just the situation in this building. If the shooting lanes are blocked, you try to shoot a little wide and hope that the rebound from the back boards comes out.” This is a kind of rematch of Stanley Cup after 25 years and everybody expected that Penguins will be able to take revenge. But Detroit proved to be much stronger in absence of their key stars like Datsyuk and Draper.

The players of Penguins really played well and they had success too in the 18:37 of the first period when an assist of Evgeni Malkin was shot by Ruslan Fedotenko to bring the match to point 1-1. That was really encouraging who were really shut out in the first two games of the last year finals. The Goalie of Detroit Wings was really good.

Osgood as his name is and he made some very good saves. Had they entered the net, the end result of the game would have been otherwise. He even stopped a shot by Sidney Crosby and was a lucky when the captain of Penguins tried another in the third period. Saves like this kept Detroit safe and the Penguins frustrated. But one thing was sure from the game the Penguins had played a better game this time!
