Regardless of the shots they have taken, The number of hits they have throw away, and whatever other factors have been involved  it is looking as if Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers are just replaying last season’s playoff series this time again. Philadelphia Flyers have been slow from the beginning and have not had the opportunity to catch up yet.

It is a condition where despite repeated efforts. The team is just not able to get the puck past Marc-Andre Fleury  at all. Nor have they been any better at slowing down Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Everything that happened the last year is happening all over again. The slack has had some unamusing results for them as well.

The team is about to play what might be their last game of this season. But then they were 0-5 during the playoffs of last two seasons so it might  not be a total surprise.

Mike Knuble admits that no one in the team is denying that there is a big road in front of the team. They have a big hill to climb as they are already 3-1 down. This comes in a situation where the Flyers have led Pittsburgh in the standings for nearly the entire season. They just could not have expected this condition, being on the verge of getting thrown out in Game 5 against Pittsburgh and this is happening for the second successive spring. The last time the twain met, the Flyers their lost Game 5 by 6-0. That was during the Eastern Conference final but the team is expecting to perform better now.

Flyers Coach John Stevens points out that there are a number of positive things among all the negative connotations of Game 4 which they lost at home 2-1 on the Tuesday night. In that game, the Flyers were 0-for-8 and had many chances to win yet they were only able to put one of 46 shots they got past Fleury. Stevens isn’t saying that series will turn in his favor on Thursday, but he said  that there is a chance it might. He appreciated his team by saying that their game was unbelievable. He admits an honest belief that he think s something might just happen in the Game 5. He said that his team has been getting better with every game of the series and that the last game was the best game for his team so far.

The fact however is that they lost the game and now the team has to win every single match. The Pittsburgh Penguins have actually done such a mistake  when they squandered a 3-1 series lead, against the Islanders  but that was way back in 1975. The Penguins have come way far since then. Meanwhile there have been 229 teams in the Flyers condition, trailing their NHL playoff series 3-1. Only 20 of them have recovered to win so far making that for every one team to make such a recovery, there have been more than ten teams who failed to recover.
