Elle has not one but two of the world’s biggest pop stars on the cover of their January 2010 issue: Lady Gaga and Britney Spears. And while they aren’t photographed together (sadly!), they each are doing their best version of sexy and fierce for their respective covers.
Gaga appears on the newsstand issue of the magazine, where she talks about marriage, babies and death. In Spears’ issue (which will get sent out to subscribers), there’s no interview, but the singer (who had a highly successful 2009 thanks the hit single “3,” and the sold-out everywhere Circus tour) poses in a cage looking dreamily at some mansion’s backyard in a blue Valentino goatskin coat with fox fur and marabou-feather trim.
In the cover image, Britney — who just celebrated her 28th birthday this week — once again sits in her gilded cage (this time with her back to the camera, looking mysteriously over her shoulder) wearing the same coat. The look was styled by “The City” star and Elle magazine Creative Director, Joe Zee. It’s a more high-fashion Britney then fans are used to seeing, but anyone who went to her Circus tour this year will recognize Spears’ growing penchant for feathers (and cages as well, for that matter).

Throwing a private party, the birthday girl was joined by her boyfriend Jason Trawick, her father Jamie Spears, and her young sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, whom she has with then-husband Kevin Federline. Her mother Lynne Spears and sister Jamie Lynn Spears were nowhere to be seen though. Over all, there were around 20 people who helped Britney celebrating her big day, including some close friends and dancers.
Britney, as reported by E! News, “was in good spirits,” and “dressed sexily, in a blue velvet blazer, shorts and fishnet stockings.” She was later on presented with a birthday cake. “It was really mellow,” says a source.Earlier that day, Britney had a shopping excursion to Fred Segal on Melrose Ave. in L.A. alongside Jason. “Britney looked so happy,” another source says of Britney’s shopping session. “She seemed very excited to spend her morning with Jason.”
The quotation regarding Britney Spears attracted my eye. Recently I’ve become her number 1 fan and can never get too much data or postings about Britney’s career. With actions like head shaving, naughty videos, marriage failures or just a new pop song release there is a good deal occurring around Britney. Shame about the nippers involvement but I guess the money will help them. The tv age is her chance for large earnings but will it be her ruin with too much reporting and pressure. In fact I think that this article and my few lines are the same pressure I talked about.
